The product group includes among others prams, strollers, car seats, carriers, nursing pillows and changing mats, i.e., products with textiles where the child has close contact with the textile when the product is used.
The materials included in a Nordic Swan Ecolabelled baby products with textiles must meet strict environmental and chemical requirements. This means that there is a ban on using a number of substances. In addition, there are requirements for both safety and quality.
The requirements include among others:
- Environmental and health aspects of the used chemicals in the textile. Among other things there is prohibition of substances that may cause cancer, cause genetic defects or damage fertility and prohibition of halogenated flame retardants, fluorinated substances and nano particles.
- Environmental and health aspects of filler materials, metal, rubber and plastic.
- For cotton, at least 50% must be organic cotton or 100% cotton that conforms to standards for limited use of pesticides (IPM cotton).
- Test of safety and quality.
The criteria cover many different materials. Therefore, not necessarily all requirements in the criteria document, will be relevant to your product. In the application tool "Requirement Overview Tool", you can see what requirements are relevant to your specific product. The tool refers to requirements in the criteria document.
The product group comprises baby products, where the surface in contact with the child is of textile and where the child has skin contact or other close contact with the textile on using the product.
The criteria document for baby products with textile is an overall document for the commodity groups:
- Prams/strollers, push chairs and baby joggers
- Carry cots
- Other fitting for prams/strollers and push chairs
(pram harnesses, head protection in prams, pram harnesses, pram upholstery, mosquito net, waterproof cape for prams etc.) - Bicycle trailers (with textile)
- Combination products of the above products

* When both the applicant and the manufacturer are micro-enterprises, the fee is reduced by 50%. The definition of company size is based on EU recommendation 2003/361.
** Where audits require more than one day away from the office including travelling, Nordic Ecolabelling can invoice an additional fee of 1,083 € per extra day. Other extraordinary costs induced by the audit can also be invoiced the applicant.
*** The renewal fee only applies if the application has been signed and submitted before end of the validity of the licence. Else the normal application fee will apply.
**** Administrative tasks that takes less than 1 hour will not be invoiced.
***** Products that are very similar in material and function and located in the same product group will be chargeable as one product.
All fees are exclusive of VAT. All information related to fees is subject to a disclaimer for errors and omissions.
The recipient is liable for the VAT according to article 56 of the Council Directive 2006/112/EC
